June 2013 Blog - I know its shocking almost another 12 months has passed.

Hi,

Just to let you know that I haven't been totally lazy - I send out regular mailshots to my existing customers and use Facebook and Twitter to interact with customers - but I do agree that I should also keep the blog going.

We have a great offer on this weekend (14th - 16th June 2013).  We have a massive 15% off all Purchases over £25.00.  Enter JUN15 at checkout to redeem.

Just a quick update.  Best selling yarns this seasons have been the All Seasons Cotton Chunky, SMC Select Reflect and Debbie Bliss Luxury Silk Prints - best selling pattern books (excluding Rowan of course) have been SMC Moments 022 (which is now sold out all over Europe - new stock due in by end of month) and Kim Hargreaves Sprit.

The Noro Sales are growing and I definitely think it is due to the introduction of the Noro Magazines.

The Bergere de France patterns are fantastic and sell well too.

I have been knitting quite a lot of baby garments this year as friends keep reproducing and I am also involved in a couple of charity events.  The next one is at the Huyton Suite on the 29th of June - the charity is called Amy and Friends.  If you are in the area call in - there is a range of local businesses selling crafts, fashion and edible goodies.

Annual Blog!! - No I'm Not Joking

I havent blogged for ages hence the title.  I have been working on the business and also doing some contract IT work so something had to give.  Sorry........

Enough whining!!  I have just got the new Rowan Magazine 52 into stock and will be putting the yarn requirements onto my website this evening.  I always get really excited when this book arrives as I can start planning my Autumn Winter Projects.

The Noro Magazine has sold really well.  Some of the yarns are not available in the UK but they can be substituted with UK Noro yarns no problem.  The subs are

Advertised          Alternative

Shiraito              Kirara

Karuta               Kama or Kogorashi

Nadeshiko          Kama or Kogorashi

Debbie Bliss has 2 brand new yarns this year.  Blue Face Leicester Aran - with supporting patterns

and Winter Garden.  The yarns an book contents have been added to the website - take a look by clicking on the links.

The Races, Easter, New Products, Website Update - the list is endless

Hi everybody, in the words of George Michael "yes Ive been bad" - haven't kept up with the blogging. In my defence I have been extremely busy.

WEBSITE

I have updated my website. http://www.knitsinthecity.co.uk/ It looks the same but has a slightly different feel. It works a bit smoother in the background and you can now leave comments about the fabulous range of products and the levels of service you receive.

All comments greatly appreciated.

NEW PRODUCTS

What can I say - we have had so many beautiful books and yarns in for the Spring Summer Season. My favourites are;

Louisa Harding - Ondine - the yarn and patterns are perfect for this season.

Kim Hargreaves Whisper - the books should be in stock any day now but the range of patterns is bang on trend. Monochrome colours and open stitch garments - lovely. The patterns (in my opinion) feel quite 80's and as the 80's were my hayday I know that the designs will suit me. I particularly love "Sheer" - don't know if I have still got the bod for it but wow wow wow!!!

The Rowan Mags are always a favourite and this year didn't disappoint. The Studio Book 23 features lots of really wearable garments.

Ah - now - NORO FLOWERS 2. The book cover itself is enough to make you want to buy it. Design 9 has been extremely popular although there is an error in the book and it doesn't show how much Aya is required to make the jacket. You will need between 12 to 16 balls depending upon your size. I also love the little tank tops.

Debbie Bliss's spring summer magazine has sold like hot cakes - there are a number of patterns for the new yarn Angel featured in it. I love this yarn and have made a small shrug in it. It is like Rowan Kidsilk Haze and I think I prefer it - it doesn't seem to shed as much when knitting it up.

Patons have brought out some lovely patterns this season. I am constantly selling out of 3806 which is for Fairy Dolls. The Patons Fusion range of patterns and yarn have also been a great success.

Designer Knitting Magazines remain as popular as ever. I am glad that I stock these they give me such inspiration.

Check out the website for a full perusal of all the new stuff www.knitsinthecity.co.uk . I dare you not to purchase a new fabulous project for the summer.

THE RACES

As you all know I go to Aintree every year on Ladies Day. We decided to go in the new stand the Lord Sefton which overlooks the paddock so you can see the horses being paraded and walked though to the racecourse. Racehorses are magnificent athletes. My horse Treacle is just what it says on the tin - a Treacle Pudding compared to the lean mean racing machines.

The day was fabulous, the girls all looked fantastic, we didn't loose our shirts and we had seats. (If you are a woman reading this you will know the importance of the two words).

EASTER

Yes it has come around quickly. I am not doing anything special but am quite looking forward to the Easter Eggs. The Royal Wedding is also looming but the Wedding of the year is my friends special day in June. Cant Wait!! What to wear???

Got to go now - orders are starting to land.

A belated Happy New Year!!

New Years resolutions - Pah!! I fail within hours of setting them.

Hope everybody is well and has recovered from the festivities - I know you are all back at work now and looking forward to the next break.

Jan Feb and March are my busiest months and this January has not failed to deliver. We have the Sale, New Product launches and best of all lots of new scrummy yarns to play with.

Rowan Magazine No. 49 is now in stock. I took pre-orders for this book and these have all been despatched - demand has slowed down a bit now and I am selling approx 1 per day on average.

I am a fan of the winter knits more than the summer knits and as the weather is still cold I am still in the mode for warm knits -especially fancy accessories. However this book is a grower. Sometimes Rowan can WOW you - I loved the winter issue and then at other times a publication can grow on you.

I am looking forward to the Winter Designer Knitting Issue - pre orders are being taken - this magazine always sells well - there is a hat featured in the winter issue which is definitely going on my list. I love hats they take an evening to make, arent too expensive and make you look truly original. As some of you are aware I am planning on doing a book - maybe hats will make a good subject matter?

The New Debbie Bliss magazine is set to launch early next month this magazine is packed will all NEW patterns - the magazine has some fantastic designs for the new Angel Yarn - this is selling very well.

It is really cold here today and I am trying to summon up the courage to go and ride the horse. Better get on. I will try and blog more regularly. Have a great day.

Merry Christmas to all

Have been rubbish at Blogging this year. But on the flip side have been too busy to blog!!

I will be posting a list of special offers on Boxing Day so keep your eye out for a bargain. I think we could all do with saving a bit after the expense of Christmas, the looming VAT increase and also to have someting to knit during this terrible weather.

I admit that the snow looks very festive but it makes working and Christmas preps take longer than anticipated, not to mention the delays in deliveries.

The dog is loving the snow and continues to roll in it every day. I then have a house that smells like wet dog until she thaws out. The funniest thing she did this week was after an invigorating walk in the snow - her paws must have been extremely chilly - she came in - lay infront of the radiator and placed all 4 paws on the red hot radiator. I thought she might burn herself but she just lay there smiling. Yes my dog smiles.........

Got to get more deliveries ready..... Dont forget check out the list on Boxing Day - I will e-mail all online subscribers too.

Merry Christmas from Knits in the City

September Update

Wow since my last update I have been really busy. It was Burghley Horse Trials a couple of weeks ago so I went to visit a friend who has moved into the local vacinity and stayed at her new (Enormous) house. It was great, partly because she has 4 kids who are all active and noisey. I live in quite a quiet calm house so to be part of a hectic life for a couple of days was invigorating. Both the dog and I came back shattered.

Stock keeps arriving daily so I am busy trying to keep the website updated and also the orders are flooding in - there are some fabulous projects to knit this year though. It is so tough what to decide on.

The new Designer Knitting arrived yesterday - it is right up my street. I love love love this publication it is definitely one of my faves. The new Debbie Blis is also available from stock. This always sells well.

I have been taking pics of my sister in some of the stuff I have made to sell on line or at Tatton Hall Christmas Fayre (See Gallery above). I am going to add these items to the website for sale as Christmas presents. This blog has been in draft form for a week. I forgot to post - will update again over the weekend. More finished items to add.

Studio 21 available to pre order

Available to order - Studio 21 - this looks like a great edition. I am loving the poncho.

The new Noro Yarn Sekku is flying out the door as we speak. Sekku is the new laceweight yarn from Noro - I am not really a laceweight knitter so cant comment on its handling all I know is people cant get enough of it. 8 stunning shades as ever from Noro.
Kochoran and Kogarashi are due into stock any day now - Kochoran has been re-instated into the range. I dont know why they stopped making it as it has always been a massive seller - back by popular demand me thinks!!
I have also started to stock Patons Colouworks and have just made a quick jacket in it - I will get someone to take a pic at Knitting group tonight and add to the blog for you all to see. The yarn handled really well and the garment is a superb everyday cardi.
Patons Silenzio has also arrived. Have not had chance to make anything with this yet but the colours are very on trend for this season.
Will update more later - need to get the new stuff on the website.

Eventing and Knitting

I cant believe it but it is almost a month since I last blogged. Where does the time go?

I have been busy with all the new stock being delivered and trying to keep the website up to date. So many beautiful designs to knit - however I am being extremely strong. Must finish Cricket Jumper by Debbie Bliss in Amalfi Snow Queen Chunky Jacket in Como
and the Cow Pat Cardi from last winters Designer Knitting before I can start anything new for me.
We have had a few new additions to the knitting group. Yes two new babies have arrived. Darcy Rose - Louise's new baby daughter and Ruby - Kerry's new family edition. Both are absolutely beautiful. Will get some pics for next blog.
Hence, I have been baby knitting - made a nice jacket from Louisa Harding Bizu Bizoo I must say that Louisa has fast become my designer of choice when looking for inspiration.
I am also making lots of new accessories for the Tatton Hall Christmas Fayre. See July Blog.
So back to the title of the blog - Eventing and Knitting. Have spent a lot of time this week writing for dressage judges. Either pure Dressage or part of the local One Day Event. I am now inspired. My poor horse will be put through her paces tomorrow. Burghley Horse Trials soon!!!***... Love it. It is a bit like my mini hols. If the weather is good it is one of the best days of my year. Somerford Park event next week - August is a good month.....
Check out the new website for the new stocks.......www.knitsinthecity.co.uk. Too many yummy yarns and patterns to list here.
Will blog again soon.

New Books and Yarns

Yes it is that time of year again...... We all get so excited for the Autumn/Winter Launches of yarn and patterns. I have got typers cramp. I have been a busy bee adding the New Louisa Harding, Rowan and Debbie Bliss books to the website http://www.knitsinthecity.co.uk/

So far it is only the book title page and the contents. As soon as the books arrive here I will add the yarn requirements. Lots of lovely pics to oohhh and aahhh over though.

Rowan 48 has the yarn requirements added.

Have had a busy week and have decided to take a stand at the Tatton Hall Christmas Fete - 1st - 5th December 2010 at Tatton Hall. Will post more details nearer the time.

I am going to be selling finished goods - hats, scarves, gloves, bags, Stirling silver shawl pins etc. This is the first time I am going to attempt a fete so keep your fingers crossed for me and if you want a pretty pair of gloves to keep said fingers warm drop in and buy some.

I am going down now to do some more designing. I am going to use my own designs for all of the items on sale. Before I go I have just waisted 5 minutes watching a "Fat Pidg" - A very fat pigeon who likes to sit on the Virgin Mary on the church next to my house to wind Tallulah (my Jack Russel) up. Anyway Fat Pidg was trying to work out the best way to keep dry. It is pouring with rain. He stuck his bum up to the sky, fluffed up his wings - all to no avail. Then - the crafty little bird pushed one of the slates on the church roof which was a bit loose along to the edge of the gutter then placed himself under it thus blocking the guttering. He must have decided that wet feet and shelter was better than nothing. Quite ingenious Fat Pidg!!
